Hurricane Katrina

At Its Worst in Empire, LA

NARRATED VERSION OF THE LIVE VIDEO

NOW AVAILABLE ON DVD

Hurricane Katrina was the worst storm to ever hit the southern half of Plaquemines Parish, LA.  The eye of the hurricane passed directly over the small town of Empire, which is where Kent Frelich and his crew rode out the storm aboard his 75' steel shrimp boat.  The boat was tied with 32 ropes alongside his shrimp dock, which is located in Doullut Canal between the locks and the floodgates.  Only four ropes remained after the storm.

At daybreak, after realizing he had his video camera on board, Kent videoed what has proven to be an extraordinary video, Live Video from the Eye of Hurricane Katrina.  The narrated video is now available on DVD.  For a complete description of the video, visit Video Info.  Also visit the Hurricane Katrina Information page for information on Hurricane Katrina.

Clips of the video were shown on CNN (1/26/06 & 1/27/06) and all channels of the New Orleans area news (1/28/06).  The clips shown on CNN made CNN's Top 10 Most Popular list.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this video will be donated to benefit the rebuilding of St. Patrick Church, Port Sulphur, LA.
